TESSELLATIONS

No artist has ever worked harder to render the visions of his mind’s eye than M.C.Escher. The images here are just three of my favorites among his art pieces on TESSELLATIONS.

Tessellations are arrangements of polygons without gaps or overlappings, especially in a repeated pattern.

The top piece he entitled as “Day and Night”. See how the drawing is divided at the middle with each side being the day and night scene/s. See also how the polygons at the middle-bottom “metamorphose” upward into geese and how they tessellate towards both sides of the drawing.

The horsemen (right) and the lizards (below) are just as interesting. See how the silhouette of the white riders (which face towards the right) exactly fit that of the black riders (which face towards the left).

M.C. Escher has been my favorite for years and hope that he will become yours as well. EIC Raffy
