GHS’S PROFILE
CONGRESSMAN MAURICIO DOMOGAN

HIS EDUCATIONAL ODYSSEY:

He takes pride in looking back and reminiscing the hardships he went through – walking a good number of kilometers in Patiacan, Ilocos Sur to get a good elementary education and borrowing oversized clothes to use for graduation. He worked his way through high school by doing part time jobs at the Lepanto mine site. He then enrolled at the Baguio Tech (now the University of Baguio) where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree on a student scholarship. After graduation he enrolled at the Baguio Colleges Foundation where he took up Law, and later successfully hurdled the BAR exams on his first try. While studying he did odd jobs to sustain himself. He stayed in one room with a lone light bulb. The hardships during those years did not deter him from getting what he wanted. Tucked under his sleeves is an Honorary Doctorate Degree, Honoris Causa from the University of Baguio. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of SLU. He succeeded in getting what he is now—through sheer Determination, Perseverance and Hard Work.

AS A PROFESSIONAL AND LAW PRACTITIONER:

His main interest in the practice of law was more of being a labor lawyer. He was the legal consultant of the labor unions of Lepanto Mines, Hyatt Terraces Hotel, Baguio Country Club, Bank of the Philippine Islands, Pines Hotel, Associated Labor Unions. He also had vendors at the city market as clients, and other rich and famous personalities of Baguio. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the St. Luke’s Medical Center, Chancellor of the North Central Diocese of the Philippines, Philippine Episcopal Church.
