In Retrospect
The Meeting That Was 06 May 2006

Program Coordinator Dir. Pam Perkins received cheerful comments from the floor for showing manifestations of “Alzheimers”, as she skipped some parts of the program like Members’ Time, Pilipinas Kong Mahal and the adjournment to be done by Pres. Mike. Fortunately, PP Chris Peralta witnessed the early onset of senility from Dir. Pam and I recommended for her to take some memory enhancers like Tabokan or Encephabol (free prescription).

Rtn. Jeb Bundang started his invocation by reading some inspirational verses from the book of Psalms followed by a whole-hearted prayer.

PE Raffy Chan stood out by giving a club president’s style of introducing Visiting Rotarians & Guests especially the program participants at the head table; including PP Roger Naz who is seldom seen in RCB meetings. Don’t let us miss you too long PP Roger, or else…we’ll miss you so much! Raffle King Rtn. Uwe Koeller made four Rotarians happy with his household raffle prizes; especially the birthday celebrant IS Ben Ladilad and hard-working President Mike Pearson who both won three times, Rtn. Emil and Rtn. Andre Sommereux were lucky winners too.

At Members’ Time, IS Ben Ladilad addressed the participants attending DISTAS 2006 in Holiday Inn, Clarkfield, with a thoughtful reminder that DISTAS program starts at 3:30 PM on May 12 and ends 5:30 PM on 13 May 2006. He also reminded the Rotarians, to make-up for their absences and to submit their make-up certificates or inform him or the president—where and when they made their make-ups.

My long-standing observation that there is poor attendance in every Club Assembly meeting was reaffirmed during President’s Time. Last Saturday, we had 25 RCB members only plus the guest of Rtn. Andre Sommereux that attended the deliberation on Club performance, achievements and on-going service projects. My kudos to President Mike for his well-prepared visual report through PowerPoint and for taking all responsibility of reporting on all avenues of service; likewise to PP Doming for the Open Forum queries. From being too engrossed with his tasks, Pres. Mike paused the Club Assembly after he was reminded by PP Veeh regarding the traditional Birthday greetings due to celebrant IS Ben Ladilad. Happy Birthday was sung repeatedly while Rotarians took turns with the beso-beso and handshake greetings to the birthday celebrant. Worth spending a gallon of sumptuous ice cream huh? Thank you IS Ben!

Congratulations to Rtn. Emil Dayrit for raising P79,900 from Cañao Ads, likewise to all Board of Directors for their extra effort and sacrifice towards achieving success on their plan of activities/projects which were presented during the First Club Assembly. Congratulations to our Club for having maintained its Program: specifically on punctuality, top ten for TRF contribution, sustained 21 Vocational scholars (RCC and College), excellent percentage of Attendance and the successful service projects benefiting the Luding community.

President Mike presented the Paul Harris Fellow pin and paraphernalia to Rtn. Dwight Dulnoan right after the Club Assembly which ended at 2:05 PM.
